How To Prepare For A Job Interview

22 Apr

Interviews can sometimes be nerve-wracking, especially if the job you’re interviewing for is your dream job. Read on for some expert interview advice from our Cavendish Pros!

Practice!

Like with everything you want to be good at in life – practicing for an interview will help you to improve your skills. Ask your friends to role-play with you, especially if they are working in a senior position and have experience interviewing people. Google common interview questions and prepare answers to these in advance, that way you won’t be caught off-guard by questions such as “Tell me about yourself?” (link to previous blog)

Prepare well

Make sure you know your CV and all the details on it, as you might be asked to explain sections of it during your interview. Research the company you’re applying to and pay special attention to the job description. This will help guide your answers.

Be on time

There’s nothing worse than having to rush to an interview only to arrive late, sweaty and disheartened! Plan your route to the interview well in advance, including alternatives should there be problems with busses or trains on the day. It is a good idea to arrive 15 minutes early, which will give you time for some last-minute preparation.

Dress the part

First impressions are very important! If you look the part, you will feel good and subsequently feel more confident. The extra effort you put in will reflect well on you and your dedication to the role.
