We are recruiting for a Cartilage Physiotherapist.

Job Summary:

The main purpose of this role is to provide rehabilitative care to patients with cartilage defects as well as undertake research activities. The role will support the Hospital's aim of assisting athletes to achieve their maximal performance and full potential.

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Clinical

  • Provide primary care to patients with diagnosed cartilage defects as well as other musculoskeletal injuries as required.
  • Develop treatment plans and track clinical outcomes.
  • Keep accurate and up to date medical records whether they be paper- or electronic-based.
  • Establish and enhance clinical care pathways for the Sports Cartilage Centre.
  • Participate in National Sports Medicine Programme (NSMP) related tasks as required.
  • Assume any other clinical responsibilities as directed by the direct supervisor.

2. Research

  • In collaboration with the Director(s)-Sports Cartilage Centre and Research Cartilage Physician initiate and conduct peer-reviewed research in the field of cartilage injuries.

3. Medical Education

  • Participate in continuing medical education (CME) and continuing professional development (CPD) activities including, but not limited to; presentations, workshops, seminars, educational and research projects, as directed by the direct supervisor.
  • When required be responsible for the delivery of CME/CPD activities in accordance with Medical Education policies. This will include being responsible for accreditation applications as appropriate.

4. Administration

  • Support and improve the client/patient flow.
  • Other administrative responsibilities as directed by the direct supervisor.

Job Requirements:

  • 6-8 years of experience in physiotherapy practice with a track record of managing cartilage defects in athletes and non-athletes.
  • Demonstrable intellectual, conceptual, integrative, qualitative standard of care and quality and analytical abilities.
  • Demonstrable social and behavioural attributes such as empathy, compassion, listening skills, open-mindedness, perseverance in the face of challenge and adversity, emotional stability.
  • Commitment to the highest standards of professionalism, ethical values and the pursuit of clinical excellence.
  • Willingness to take accountability and responsibility for personal actions and decisions made.
  • Objectivity in making decisions and in the giving and receiving of feedback and critical appraisal.
  • Ability to continually independently audit and improve one's own patient care, diagnostic decision-making and competency.
  • A commitment to fostering multidisciplinary patient care, research and teaching.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Demonstrable advanced coping and stress management skills.
  • An interest / personal background in competitive sports would be advantageous.

Education and Certification requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy.
  • A post-graduate diploma in Sports or Manipulative Physiotherapy.
  • Current registration with a Physiotherapy Association.
  • Registration with the relevant licensing authority.

Job specific technical Skills

  • Demonstrate strong clinical skills.
  • Expertise in the management of patients with cartilage defects and other musculoskeletal injuries.
  • Good communication skills and a willingness to use some learn key phrases and words in Arabic.
  • Ability to work in a team.
