We are working in partnership with the Sidra Medicine. Our client is an ultramodern, all-digital academic medical centre specialising in the provision of care for women and children. Based in Qatar, our client will focus on world-class patient care, medical education and biomedical research.

We are recruiting for a Division Chief - Adult Psychiatry for Women's Mental Health

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Chair/Clinical Service Chief of Psychiatry, the Division Chief- Adult Psychiatry for Women's Mental Health provides clinical, education, research and executive management leadership in Women's Mental Health. The Division Chief is a clinical and managerial leader working with the hospitals executive team to develop and deliver strategy and business plans and is accountable for resources and performance in Women's Mental Health and integrates research and education priorities into a program of excellent clinical service delivery.

Key Role and Accountability:

  • Identifies and articulates the vision, strategic direction, and growth of the Women Mental Health and collaborates on the implementation of strategies to achieve them.
  • Leads clinical service planning, service development and capacity planning for the clinical activities of Women Mental Health services.
  • Promotes leadership and direction for the development of strategies to promote the recruitment, retention, and direct mission of excellence for the medical staff, and collaborates with the Division Chiefs to execute the strategies.
  • Recommends clinical privileges, appointment, reappointment and corrective action for each member of the Division of Women Mental Health as well as promoting mentorship and academic career development for these staff members.
  • Responsible for all administrative related activities of the Women Mental Health Division unless otherwise provided for by the hospital, and serves on all requested committees including medical executive committee, and appointing such committees as necessary to conduct the function of the department.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide support provision of services to the Women Mental Health Clinic services.
  • Continues surveillance of the professional performance of all individuals in the Women Mental Health Division who have delineated clinical privileges, including performance, and ongoing and focused professional practice evaluations (OPPE and FPPE).
  • Continues surveillance of patient care and the professional performance of all individuals in the Women Mental Health Division who have defined clinical privileges.
  • Ensures that the staff of the Women Mental Health Division provides services that are in compliance with all applicable standards and requirements of the Joint Commission International, Qatar Supreme Council of Health, and all other applicable regulatory bodies.
  • Accountable for the financial performance and management of all budgets within the Women Mental Health Division.
  • Implements the clinical service strategies and business plan for the Women Mental Health Division.
  • Makes recommendations for the purchase of capital and other equipment and participates in the evaluation of products for use by different members of the Women Mental Health Division to ensure their safety and efficacy.
  • Sets and achieves targets to drive continuous assessment and improvement of the quality of care and services provided and initiates actions for necessary improvements according to the hospitals Board initiatives.
  • Works with the Service Chief to establish and update the work week standards for all physicians on staff and assures that there is appropriate clinical coverage for all patients requiring medical care from the Women Mental Health Division (including emergency care).
  • Ensures all members of the Women Mental Health Division optimize the use of electronic medical records.
  • Sets and achieves targets for programs and procedures for confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with hospital policy and the privacy laws of the State of Qatar.

Qualifications:

  • MD degree (or equivalent)
  • Residency training in Psychiatry (or equivalent)
  • Subspecialty Fellowship in Women Mental Health (or equivalent training or certification) Preferred

Experience

  • 10+ years post-residency clinical experience in the relevant field from a North American Academic/ Health care Institution or equivalent in UK, Republic of Ireland, Australia or New Zealand.
  • 5+ years in Academic leadership in area of specialty
  • Expertise in Women Mental Health
  • Experience in presentations at National / International level
  • Peer reviewed publications preffered
