Architect Technician

Our client is delivering high quality buildings across all sectors as well as feasibility studies and masterplans. Many projects have been won in competition and many more awarded prizes - including being shortlisted for the RIBA Stirling Prize and winning the British Council for Offices' top award.

Our client have various offices in the United Kingdom and they are currently recruiting for Architect Technician to join their growing team in the Birmingham office.

Responsibilities:

  • Working directly for the Technical Studio, but assigned to Design Studios for specific projects.
  • Resolve construction detailing when considering design aspirations, performance and functional
  • requirements.
  • Evaluate and advise on legal and regulatory requirements within the industry relevant to the project.
  • Liaise with all design team members to coordinate and resolve building elements, work packages
  • and construction issues.
  • Liaise with building control to discuss scheme and/or appraisals, propose viable solutions to
  • design/detail issues.
  • Liaise with suppliers, manufacturers and sub-contractors where required progress work packages or
  • building elements.
  • Lead and/or assist the detailed design process, both strategic and CAD management.
  • Managing the work of junior technicians assisting in the project.
  • Obtaining feedback from project lead or Studio Directors in relation to design requirements, and
  • implementing amendments where required.
  • Competent in the production of detailed specifications & schedules for project related output.
  • Take a lead in the preparation of CAD information, whilst maintaining working standards throughout
  • the project in accordance with company guidelines/protocols and industry standards.

Qualities & Skills Required:

Essential:

  • Minimum 2 year of experience in a similar position
  • Able to demonstrate ability to undertake the above responsibilities
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team
  • A flexible and open attitude towards new ways of working and commitment to independent, life long
  • learning
  • Leadership skills as well as the ability to work well within a team of other professionals

Desirable:

  • Ability to take initiative in response to direction or instruction
  • Ability to work well under pressure, and meet deadlines efficiently and effectively budget
