We are recruiting for an Engineer - Highway Design.

Job Summary

Our client is working on highway projects within Manchester to improve local roads, curbs, cycle schemes, junction and island/roundabout and general revamp. They are looking for various skill sets ranging from Technician all the way through to Project Management (particularly NEC).

The work is initially for a 6/12 month contract, however, this could possibly be extended.

As this work is in a public sector you would need to work within IR35 and be paid through either an umbrella company or PAYE.

Please note - roles and responsibilities may vary depending on levels and skill - set of Engineer.

Roles and Requirements:

  • Perform engineering design tasks for roadway and site civil projects from conceptual design to final design. This includes having a good working knowledge of the entire project life cycle
  • Develop specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages
  • Road Construction
  • Have a strong working knowledge of roadway design software tools
  • Provide valuable input into design best practices
  • Have a positive team - oriented attitude
  • Be part of the design activities between staff, subcontractors, and clients
  • Identify schedule and cost variances and develop recommendations for corrective action
  • Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling performance
  • Road Safety Audits
  • Coordinate quality control, safety and organisation of subcontractors and internal technical and support staff
  • Maintain a close relationship with clients
  • Carry out Safety Inspections and quality checks
  • Junction Design
  • Detailed highway design for developments
  • Site Supervision
