Our client is looking for an Estimating Manager to join their team based in London. This will be a permanent position sitting within the Digital Transformation team.

Job Summary:

To provide an estimating service and cost modelling service to the programme team. You will mentor Estimators and allocate local estimating resources in response to programme demands. In addition to this you will also actively liaise and support discipline initiatives as required by the discipline head.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead on the estimating resources so that they are available to produce estimates in a timely and efficient manner
  • Act as the expert for estimating
  • Support corporate alignment on estimating best practice, processes and systems
  • Steer the project on estimating process in line with the clients process, procedures and work instructions
  • Provide guidance and advice on method of measurement, cost breakdown structures, reporting and the analysis of quantities
  • Monitor and review all estimates so that they are produced in accordance with company procedures and processes
  • Take responsibility for the acquisition of external estimating support
  • Review and approve the submission of CAF 4s, providing regular audit of submissions to ensure quality and meet KPI targets
  • Own, develop and lead the effective deployment of a unit cost modelling tool across the Commercial discipline and lead improvement initiatives
  • Provide, plan and monitor estimating KPIs to measure collection of cost data, performance of estimating team and compliance with estimating process
  • Develop and deploy robust estimating workload management plan using project management planning tools

Skills and Requirements:

  • Qualified to professional standard in Estimating or Quantity Surveying with membership of an appropriate professional body and/or educated to degree level
  • Relevant successful experience of provision of estimating and/or QS services in railway or construction environment
  • Knowledge of project management and investment programme processes and systems
