Our client is one of UK's most experienced company in environmental consultancy, property and buildings, power and energy, highways, roads and rail infrastructure, urban and regional planning.

Based in Glasgow, we are currently seeking a Transport Planner to join their environmental team. This is an exciting opportunity for the chosen candidate work within a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team on a wide range of high profile projects.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Plan the delivery of new hire orders, to meet agreed customer delivery times, ensure that off-hired equipment is collated within the timescale prescribed
  • Plan deliveries and collections to ensure cost effective use of transport fleet
  • Plan the activity of drivers ensuring the achievement of productivity is within the targeted average hours
  • With the Regional Transport Manager, ensure that the vehicle allocated are maintained and inspected to the schedules set by fleet management
  • Ensure that drivers comply with all relevant Road Transport legislation, including the correct and timely use of tachographs and internal reporting

Skills and Requirements:

  • Degree qualified or equivalent in a relevant subject - Civil Engineering, Geography or similar
  • Graduate or Consultant grade with 3 or more years' relevant experience in a transport consultancy or local authority environment
  • General Transport Planning / Traffic Engineering / Development Planning background
  • Ability to evidence project involvement, skills acquired and tasks delivered personally
  • Generalist background preferred - including evidence of experience in some or all of the following:
    • Transport Assessment / Statement preparation and support
    • Specification, undertaking and/or analysis of traffic surveys - manual classified counts, ATC's, pedestrian counts, car park occupancy surveys etc.
    • Travel Plan preparation and support.
    • Junction modelling involvement to current standards - LinSig, TRANSYT, Junctions 8/9, VISSIM etc.
    • Transport policy research
    • Involvement in basic junction / link design to a Concept or Preliminary level of detail.
    • AutoCAD and/or MapInfo experience is desirable but not essential
    • Evidence of report writing and detailed calculations
    • Experience in stakeholder engagement and/or public consultation
    • Proactive interest and CPD evidence of attendance at relevant industry / institution events
