This is achieved through tailored education programmes and support in areas of health including fitness assessment, nutrition, psychology, physiology and physical training.

We are recruiting for a Policy and Editor Coordinator.

Job Summary:

To manage policy formation and updates. To coordinate with clinical and non-clinical policy authors to ensure that policies are in place, written at a high level and routinely reviewed/amended to meet current process, governmental mandate, and accreditation standard/criteria. The Medical Policy Editor/Coordinator ensures all policies are written to a common style guide and manages the electronic system (MCN) to ensure staff read and understand policies published.

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Administration

  • Manages the MCN policy manager to ensure policies and plans on the system are updated.
  • Coordinates with relevant hospital policy authors to create or amend policies that reflect approved processes.
  • Ensures reviewers of policies provide clinical and non-clinical content as necessary to optimize the policy or plan being written.
  • Works with plan authors to ensure the plan is up to date and meets governmental mandate and or accreditation standards criteria and or process improvements made.
  • Applies the correct signature authority to each document and ensures signatures are obtained.
  • Scans and archives all policy documents in completed signature format into the MCN system.
  • Notifies all staff to read the policy as published on MCN and determines reading compliance.
  • Supports forms development.
  • Seeks Arabic translation using AZF resources as required.
  • Writes to a technical reading level for all staff to understand the policy and/or plan and suggests changes with each author as necessary prior to publishing.
  • Tracks policy / plan development and provides variance report based on Hospital policy related to policy writing.
  • Updates Head of Quality Management on policy development progress and or outstanding issues related to polic development through monthly reporting.

2. People Management

  • Assists policy authors to understand the best method of policy/plan formation or amendment.
  • Works with the Head of Quality Management to ensure staff compliance issues on policy development or policy review are resolved.

3. Patient Safety

  • Attends and successfully completes competencies which focus on patient safety initiatives implemented within the Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital.

4. Other duties

  • Assumes any other responsibilities as directed by the direct supervisor.

Job Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of experience as a technical writer. A minimum of 5 years in a hospital environment.

Skills and Abilities:

  • High level technical writing skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, activities and resources to ensure efficient operations.
  • Organised with strong administrative skills.
  • Broad understanding of hospital operations.
  • Strong understanding of Hospital accreditation, ACI preferred.
  • Ability to work well independently or in a team.
  • Able to work well under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines.

Education and Certification requirements

  • Bachelor's degree/Diploma - Technical Writing.

Job specific technical skills

  • Fluent in English, Verbal and Written form expert.
  • Good interpersonal, communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to build positive and productive working relationships.
  • Excellent ability in using Information Technology, including aptitude with MSN, Microsoft Programs, email and internet, photocopiers, scanners, facsimile.
  • Energetic and challenged by opportunities to set up systems and workflows from scratch.
