Job Summary:

Our client is currently seeking a personable, enthusiastic, and energetic Cost Manager to join their rail cost management team to support their continuing growth and make the difference to both their business and to UK infrastructure.

This client is a global professional services consultancy working from 97 offices in 39 countries and using their skills and knowledge they provide industry leading project and commercial management services to their clients around the world.

They have grown year on year since 2007 and are continuing to flourish. They are a great team and have a unique offering; from supporting the development of government strategy to on site project delivery, and in this exciting setting they can provide a wealth of varied opportunities for personal and professional growth in a dynamic and nurturing environment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to their achievement of the client’s 2020 vision
  • Establish friendly, professional and appropriate relationships with clients, colleagues and other parties involved in the projects and programmes they support
  • Administer a variety of contracts in accordance with project objectives and policies
  • Provide accurate project cost monitoring, forecasting and reporting to completion in line with budget
  • Pro-actively monitor and manage cost variance and contract cash flow and ensure that applications are made correctly and in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with client and contractor teams to manage the delivery of project deliverables, KPIs, and objectives, including programme performance, cost control, and value engineering
  • Manage contract change effectively, ensuring that projects remain within governance and adopt best practice
  • Drive improvements in the accuracy of forecasts and budgets
  • Proactively provide sound commercial knowledge and support to all stakeholders
  • Ensure that final accounts are negotiated and agreed
  • Lead people and commissions as needed

Qualifications:

  • Ideally degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant subject
  • Ideally hold or be working towards an appropriate professional body membership or equivalent
