Our client is one of UK's most experienced company in environmental consultancy, property and buildings, power and energy, highways, roads and rail infrastructure, urban and regional planning.

Based in London, our client is looking for a Structural Engineer to join their team on a full time basis.

Job Summary:

  • You will be supported in your work by the Project Engineer and management colleagues.
  • Reporting to the Associate Director and working with other engineers, you will provide support as part of a team in delivering projects effectively and accurately to strict deadlines, whilst maintaining technical performance standards.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Business & Financial Management

  • Timely completion of the work that you are tasked with
  • Co-operation with your colleagues for effective team work
  • Good time keeping

Business Development

  • Produce work of an excellent presentation standard
  • Maintain a high standard of communication in the office, on the telephone or in meetings

Project Management

  • Ensure time sheets are submitted promptly
  • Ensure adherence to the IMS
  • Keep information and your work in well-ordered files and ensure these are available to others in the team at all times

Technical

  • Understanding of engineering principles and their application to projects
  • Ability to use various engineering software packages, including CAD, according to discipline
  • Validation of design calculations and output from computer programmes
  • Ability to produce good, reliable work with supervision
  • Ability to undertake site visits/fieldwork with supervision
  • Ability to prepare draft reports under guidance
  • Ability to listen to and take on board constructive guidance
  • Ensure timely delivery of projects to an adequate standard
  • Support the development and provision of technical work in your areas of expertise Team

Working & Communication

  • Liaise with colleagues in other offices to share work and maximise utilisation
  • Engender effective team working.

Health & Safety

  • Shall have a sound understanding of the CDM Regulations, specifically the Designers requirements
  • Completion of all risk assessment documentation in a timely manner
  • Report all accidents/incidents or near misses
  • Adherence to all H&S requirements at all times
  • Use and maintain appropriate PPE
  • Assist to deliver improved procedures and business performance
  • Attend all scheduled Company H&S training courses

Skills and Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years experience
  • Can work as part of a team delivering high quality engineering designs and drawings
  • Can Prepare engineering designs, drawings and specifications in accordance with the Company's management systems under guidance
  • Can Comply with the Company's safety and IMS procedures
  • A knowledge and understanding of structural design analysis software, AutoCAD and/or Revit would be of benefit.
