Job Summary

We are recruiting for a Theatre Practitioner.

You'll work as part of a close knit team providing excellent patient focused care within the Theatres/Scrubs Team. You'll be a caring and compassionate nurse, delivering a high standard of care to our patients. We value all of our people and will provide you support and a great place to work.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the positioning and preparation of a patient as directed by the surgical team and ensuring that any specimens are correctly labelled and dispatched to the laboratory
  • Help to control cross infection by observing departmental policy regarding dress, the maintenance of a clean working environment, decontamination and sterilisation procedures and asepsis
  • Participating in the induction and orientation programmes for new staff to ensure a welcoming environment
  • Assisting the team leaders in the Personal Development Plans of junior staff
  • Preparing patients for clinical/ operative procedures, both in anaesthetics and surgery
  • Providing assistance in clinical/ operative procedures, both anaesthetics and surgery
  • Providing immediate post-operative care
  • Providing initial emergency care as required
  • Taking charge of the clinical area in the absence of an advanced practitioner ensuring patient, visitors and staff safety
  • Ensuring all equipment is checked prior to use and any faults reported to the Theatre Co-ordinator

Skills and Experience

  • NMC Registered Nurse with a min of 2 years experience
  • Experience working within an acute hospital setting
  • Experience working within Scrubs
  • Team player
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
