5 Tips for Managing Stress

Stress is a part of life - there have even been studies which suggest that a small amount of it can be good for you! However, when feelings of stress or anxiety become too intense they can have serious ramifications on our mental and physical health. So to help, we did some research and found 5 great things you can do when you feel overwhelmed...

1. Stop
Stress can sometimes make us feel like we are spiralling out of control. When this happens, stop what you’re doing and get some fresh air. 

2. Take 5
Breathing techniques are an excellent way to manage stress. Breathe in for a count of five, hold for five and then exhale. Repeat for as long as you need to. 

3. Get moving
Exercise is a great way to release tension and boost your endorphin levels. Try swimming or yoga to calm the mind and strengthen the body. 

4. Phone a friend
Speak to a friend or colleague you trust about what is bothering you. A different perspective on the situation can make all the difference.

5. Food for thought
During stressful times its important to stick to your healthy eating habits. Sugar and caffeine will only make you feel more jittery – grab some strawberries instead!
