Celebrating Nine Years Of Cavendish Professionals: 5 Memories Of The Early Days

If you follow us on social media (and if you don’t, we urge you to do so), you already know that Cavendish Professionals will be celebrating its 9th birthday on February 9. To celebrate, we have decided to ask a few of our long-term employees to rummage through some their earliest memories at the company. Here is what they shared:

Courting Candidates

Evgenia, who joined in September 2011 remembers how unnerving her first RCN Bulletin Fair was, just one week into the job: “I was asked to attend to get a feel of how the day is set up, how to speak to candidates and to discuss the application process and job opportunities in the UK/Middle East. I was thrown in at the deep end of the recruitment world, it was the most daunting day!

The Infamous 1st Business Development Call

First time experiences are often scary and Mark, who has been with the company since April 2010, also had to go through these impressive and frightening first times: “I remember how petrified I was for my first client call. I managed to pull myself together and power through. It was a great experience and we ended up securing a contract with that particular client.”

Christmas Party

Patrick Liston can’t help but smile when he thinks of the company’s first Christmas party: “There were only 4 of us so we kept it very low key and went to a curry house in Baker Street.”

Health & Fitness Guru

Adrian, who has been a member of the Cavendish team since July 2010, remembers their first office in Hammersmith and his personal journey to a healthier lifestyle: “In the early days, when I would go to the gym every morning, I used to eat very healthy after my pre-work gym session. One morning I decided that chicken, broccoli and asparagus with some parmesan cheese was the way forward, so, I popped it in the microwave for a few minutes. The microwave in question was not very well placed in the office and when everyone came in, they were welcomed by a really bad smell. Unfortunately, this story and tales of the horrendous smell just won’t go away so I thought I’d be the one to share it this time!”

The Truth

This slightly contradicts Mark’s recollection of the company’s time in Hammersmith: “Adrian eating Subway for lunch EVERY SINGLE DAY!” We’ll let you imagine the ongoing debate in the office ever since we gathered these specific memories!

What The Future Holds

In nine years, Cavendish has achieved fantastic things which include building a national and international reputation. Evgenia recalls: “I remember Laura Liston and I, sitting in the corner of our Hammersmith office, starting up the Middle East division.”

Patrick Liston also remembers this tipping point for the company: “I remember our first intrepid client visits in the Middle East and the challenges of developing business relations in a very different cultural environment.”

Whist we remember our first successes like “Framing our first cheque payment into the business – It’s still framed.” or our very first permanent placement “an Audiologist to a private healthcare group in the UK”, we are resolutely looking towards the future.

In the years to come, we aim to consolidate our buoyant healthcare and technical divisions whilst maintaining an equal balance across the business. We want our workforce to feel happy and well rewarded across the board.

Our goal is also to grow our team by hiring influential and experienced professionals.

We wish to continue our year-on-year maturity and to celebrate many more successes and many more years of Cavendish!
