CP Employees Receive CPR Training

As part of our partnership with the British Heart Foundation, we thought it important that Cavendish employees receive CPR training. Last week, we rolled out life-saving training across the company, which saw all employees receive CPR training, in sessions facilitated by a BHF representative and the Call Push Rescue training kit.

A person’s breathing and heartbeat can stop for multiple reasons, from heart attack to blood infections to accidents. However, death does not have to be the outcome. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, known as CPR, was developed to help increase your chances of survival.

According to the British Heart Foundation, fewer than one in 10 people survive cardiac arrests suffered outside of hospital, with 10,000 people in the UK dying each year as a result. Survival rates in countries that teach first aid in school are said to be up to three times higher.

This month saw the introduction of new legislation, where lifesaving first aid will be included in the national school curriculum. The government’s proposal to teach first aid skills and CPR training, as part of compulsory health education in all schools in England from 2020, could save thousands of lives.
