Our client is a global consulting organisation expanding its engineering leadership team in Germany, and they are looking for an experienced Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Architect to join their growing practice.
This is a senior architectural role with broad influence across engineering, focused on defining and driving long-term reliability, scalability, and performance strategies for complex, cloud-native systems.
Skills and Requirements:
* 10+ years’ experience in software engineering, DevOps, or systems engineering, including 5+ years in senior SRE or architecture roles.
* Deep expertise in at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
* Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes and microservices at scale.
* Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
* Solid background in observability and monitoring platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, ELK, Datadog, etc.).
* Proficiency in Python or Go for automation and tooling.
* Strong understanding of distributed systems, networking, and high-availability design patterns.
Role & Responsibilities:
* Define reliability at scale – Design highly scalable, fault-tolerant, and secure cloud architectures for mission-critical systems.
* Set standards and frameworks – Establish and govern SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, and reliability best practices across engineering teams.
* Lead observability strategy – Drive the design and adoption of metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting frameworks.
* Enable automation – Champion Infrastructure as Code and automation to ensure consistent, repeatable, and secure environments.
* Build resilience – Develop disaster recovery strategies, resilience patterns, and chaos engineering practices.
* Lead by influence – Act as a thought leader and mentor, embedding SRE principles and reliability culture across the organisation.
* Evolve incident management – Analyse major incidents, drive systemic improvements, and continuously improve incident response practices.
