    I am supporting an early-stage robotics and AI startup that is building intelligent systems combining robotics, real-time control, and modern AI. They are looking for a Founding Engineer (Robotics) to lead and shape the robotics function from the ground up. This is a hands-on leadership role with significant technical ownership and the autonomy to define how robotics is built within the company, remote from Europe.

    Skills and Requirements:

    · 2-3 years of experience in robotics or related fields.

    · Strong experience with ROS or ROS2.

    · Background in robotics, AI-driven systems, research labs, or scientific instrumentation.

    · Comfortable working in early-stage environments with evolving requirements.

    · Curious, ambitious, and motivated by learning and building.

    · Academic background is flexible – candidates from industry or academia are welcome.

    · No formal titles or degrees required, but relevant projects and practical experience are important.

    Role and Responsibilities:

    · Define the technical vision and direction for the robotics function.

    · Lead development across real-time control, motion planning, and SLAM.

    · Build and evolve robotics systems using ROS / ROS2.

    · Work with simulation tools such as Gazebo or similar environments.

    · Write clean, maintainable code primarily in Python.

    · Collaborate closely with AI and LLM engineers.

    · Establish engineering principles and ways of working.

    · Support and mentor team members as the robotics function grows.
