    Cavendish Professionals are recruiting for a Backend Software Engineer, Rust for a high-growth technology company in New York, who are building a real-time trading platform for digital assets.

    You will help design the server-side foundation that keeps market data flowing, orders executing, and risk under control. Expect to work on services that handle heavy event traffic, connect to several external exchanges, and run on top of on-chain execution environments. You will work side by side with blockchain and product engineers to make trading fast and dependable, especially when markets are moving quickly.

    What This Will Involve:

    • Risk and collateral management: Create the engines that monitor exposure, manage liquidations, and allocate capital efficiently.
    • Blockchain-backed state: Model and implement the state machines that trading and risk logic depend on.
    • Consistency across distributed components: Make sure state stays correct across asynchronous workers, and design the mechanisms that let the system reach agreement on external events.
    • Live data handling: Pull in and combine market feeds, and coordinate actions across venues where timing is measured in milliseconds.
    • Streaming and storage: Build high-throughput ingestion pipelines, time-series data models, and indexing layers that power real-time queries.
    • Venue connectivity: Integrate with third-party platforms, handling rate limits, dropped connections, and inconsistent data.
    • Client-facing APIs: Ship REST and WebSocket endpoints for the trading interface, backed by caching that keeps response times in the millisecond range.
    • Reliability and tooling: Profile and tune async Rust code, containerize services, and set up monitoring that supports zero-downtime deployments.

    What You Bring:

    • Rust depth: 2-5 years experience as a backend software engineer with in-depth Rust experience.
    • Systems fundamentals: Working knowledge of databases, networking, and concurrency, with a habit of weighing performance trade-offs explicitly.
    • Async runtime experience: Hands-on work with Tokio or an equivalent, with judgment about when message passing is safer than shared locks.
    • Data store experience: Familiarity with relational, time-series, and key-value databases, including indexing and query tuning.
    • Interface design: Experience building REST or gRPC APIs that are type-safe, clear in their errors, and easy to observe.
    • Evidence-driven approach: You measure before you optimize and watch allocation behavior closely.
    • Operational mindset: You have run services in production and are comfortable with containers, alerting, and incident follow-through.
    • Collaboration style: You prefer fast, direct, in-person working relationships.
