    Construction in Focus

Last year, we sat down with members of our construction division to discuss a number of topics relating to the construction industry, recruitment, and our team’s approach and objective when delivering the best service possible. For that reason, in “Construction in Focus”, our construction division will be able to answer and explore the industry on a more personal level.

    Episode 1 – Candidate Care

In the first episode of our ‘Construction in Focus’ Podcast, Ioana Lorena Mocanu, the Operations Manager of the contracts team at Cavendish Professionals, discusses the guiding principles of the company. The company is focused on three key pillars – people, community, and sustainability – and Lorena emphasizes the importance of fully inducted operatives and learning and development. Cavendish also invests in the wellbeing of its operatives through partnerships with two charities in the construction industry (Construction Sport and Lighthouse Club) and encourages sport activities as a form of therapy.

Episode 2 – Working in Construction

For the next episode of the ‘Construction in Focus’ Podcast, John Joe (Associate Director – Construction Division) and Francis (Contracts Manager) share their experiences in the construction recruitment industry, discussing how they got into the field and what they enjoy about their jobs. Both mention the importance of developing relationships with clients and candidates, as well as the exposure to different cultures and backgrounds. When asked what it takes to be successful in the construction industry, they emphasize the need for people skills, organizational skills, hunger and desire, ambition, and motivation.

Episode 3 – Learning and Development

During episode 3 of ‘Construction in Focus’, Lorena explains our strong emphasis on learning and development opportunities for our construction division cooperatives. We believe in supporting our staff through transparent recruitment processes and upskilling training opportunities. Our three main offerings include internal training, career progression support, and face fit training. We are proud to acknowledge the efforts of our face fit trainer Francis and recruiters training facilitator Alan for their contributions to the growth of our team.

    Episode 4 – Training

In episode 4 of ‘Construction in Focus’, Lorena breaks dwn the type of support and training our candidate’s receive on construction sites. There is a firm belief in development by supporting operatives throughout their training and courses to improve a variety of skills. The training options cover a number of areas linking to career progression and specialisation, depending on the construction worker’s needs. Furthermore by partnering with charities such as the Lighthouse Club and Construction Sport, more opportunites for mentorship and mental health support become available.

    Episode 5 – Wellbeing

In this episode, Lorena and Mark discuss what wellbeing means at Cavendish Professionals and how the care and attention for all members of the team and the operatives makes a significant impact on their professional and personal lives. They also talk about how the term wellbeing can be subjective, and how the increase in awareness around mental health in recent years has changed the thought process and considerations for many organisations when building strong relationships with their teams.
