    Techie Space Event: Building the future of Tech Hubs

    Last week, we recently hosted an engaging and insightful event at Techie Space in Krakow, organised by Adrian Duffy and featuring a diverse line-up of industry experts who shared their knowledge on various aspects of building and sustaining tech hubs. The event attracted a large audience, the discussions provided valuable takeaways for anyone looking to make an impact in the tech community.

    The event kicked off with Piotr Uryga, VP of Product Engineering at Viator. Piotr, a seasoned leader with experience at Qualtrics and Sabre, shared insights on ‘how to set up a tech hub that attracts and retains talent’. He emphasised the importance of creating environments that not only draw in talent but also adopt long-term commitment and growth.

    Michał Porzożyński, Senior Director of Software Engineering at IBM Apptio Poland, followed with a presentation on ‘where to start and how to progress’. He outlined a clear roadmap for tech companies, sharing his passion for agile methods and lean product management to guide start-ups and established businesses alike.

    Kacper Moskała, Leadership Coordinator at StoneX, explored challenges and how to overcome them, highlighting ways to identify potential issues before they escalate. With his extensive experience in the financial sector and managing development teams, Kacper’s proactive approach underscored the importance of foresight and effective problem-solving.

    Ewelina Usarek-Nowak, Head of Digital and Data Solutions at Jacobs Poland, delivered a session on large-scale hiring at speed while managing quantity and quality. With over 15 years of experience in building high-performing teams, Ewelina shared strategies for scaling quickly without compromising talent, a crucial consideration for rapidly expanding tech hubs.

    Next, Lukasz Domoradzki, Senior Director with over 15 years of experience, discussed how to build a culture within tech hubs. Drawing from his background at UPM-Kymmene, Epam, Stefanini, and GE HealthCare, he emphasized the importance of collaboration, partnership, and continuous improvement to create a thriving and innovative environment.

    Finally, Tomasz Manugiewicz, General Manager at Evoke and author of “Executive Agile,” presented on the correlation between universities and the education sector. Tomasz highlighted the need for tech hubs to collaborate with academic institutions to nurture talent and drive innovation, sharing his experiences as an advisory board member and lecturer.
