Cavendish Professionals 2022 Charity Golf Day

    Cavendish Charity Golf Day

On 20th May 2022, we organized a charity golf day to raise money and awareness for two great charities working hard to make a difference to workers and their families in the construction industry – Construction Sport and The Lighthouse Club. Both charities strive to create a positive environment for the industry and they both make construction a safer place for all workers. We wanted to raise awareness for these charities that are creating a positive change.

    The day

We had an early start at Ealing Golf Club with participants arriving from 8 am. Registration, organising team members, handicaps and tee-off times all followed by a hearty breakfast to keep everyone going until lunch. At 9:30 the teams were ready for the 18 holes ahead.

Throughout the day, we held two competitions at different holes on the course. The longest drive competition and Beat the Pro was kindly hosted by Construction Sport’s Phil Akers, a trustee of the charity and former pro golfer. For a small entry fee, proceeds all going to charity, attendees would test their skills against Phil, with the closest shot to the hole winning and of course, money collected was for charities.

    Speaking to our chosen charities

We were lucky enough to capture the day’s activities on camera. It was especially great to film both our charity representatives talking about the important work they do. The Lighthouse Club and Construction Sport. Bill Hill, CEO of The Lighthouse Club discussed the worrying statistics of construction workers’ mental health in the industry. Bill also spoke to us about the services that they provide to help tackle these issues. Steve Kerslake, discussed in detail what Construction Sport are doing for the Industry and sport and what benefits they can have for construction workers and their mental health. It was also nice to also get some of our clients in front of the camera as well talking about the importance sport can have on our mental health.

We ended the day with presentations for the winning team, the two runner-up teams, and the highest scoring player. Ending the day of activities with the raffle winners.
