Mental Health within Construction
The construction industry brings high pressures, from tight deadlines to physical risks, that can impact mental health. Operatives often face stress, isolation, and burnout, leading to increased rates of anxiety, depression, and more. Recognising this Cavendish Professionals works with Construction Sport and Steve Kerslake supporting a charity to improve mental health within construction. More construction companies are prioritising mental health through support initiatives like counselling access, mental health training , and fostering open communication. Supporting mental well-being not only improves job satisfaction but also enhances safety and productivity essentially creating a stronger, more resilient workforce. This year we have focused on partnering up with construction sport and visiting our operatives on site.
Site Visits
McAleer and Rushe
We first visited one of our partner McAleer & Rushe at Mount Pleasant during Phase 3 + 4. This mixed-use 370 new home development project is designed with sustainability in mind, aiming to achieve both BREEAM Very Good and Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 ratings.
GCL
We visited GCL (Ground Construction Limited) in West London. Steve highlighted his story and reason for setting up Construction Sport, by talking through the opportunities for construction workers to engage and participate within different sports which promotes their physical and mental well-being.
Errigal
The Cavendish Professionals and construction sport team second destination was the Mirabelle Gardens project by Errigal. Construction Sport is creating opportunities for construction workers to enjoy sports, promoting both mental and physical well-being. It’s inspiring to see Errigal supporting this valuable initiative and we hope to work together in the future to promote this further.
