Social Sustainability Advisor
Our client is a leading Recycling & Waste Management company who currently have an opening for a Social Sustainability Advisor to join the team on a permanent basis.
This is a full-time position, Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm – immediate start available.

The Role:
The role reports to the Managing Directors. The Social Sustainability Advisor is an experienced professional who works closely with the company SHEQ functions.
The main purpose of this role is to develop, maintain and cultivate a social sustainability policy in line with the company’s overall strategy aspirations. This policy will enable us to demonstrate the highest levels of social sustainability throughout our operation. Also, an essential part of this role will be assisting on the publication of an annual sustainability report and to provide ‘thought leadership’ on best practice.
Role and Responsibilities of the role are:
- Responsibility for managing and overseeing social and sustainability issues.
- Delivering the sustainability pillars as directed in the Sustainability and Wellness Manifesto as well as tracking progress and quarterly reporting.
- Manage the social value reporting tool and tracking (Social Value Portal, Supply Chain Sustainability School).
- Involved in the planning stages of works (new clients, new sites) and how we can implement social value
- Work with the marketing team to promote social value on site and the wider community.
- Development and delivery of the Sustainability Action Plan working with clients and partners to guarantee socially responsible sustainability.
- Join sustainability groups local to our sites / Work with schools on this area and building relationships with these groups.
- Work with Marketing to develop a social media plan for Social Value initiatives.
- Embed the corporate social value offering for clients. To keep an updated deck of all corporate social value projects and the total social value that can be produced from involvement.
- Join ICRS (Institute of Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability).
- Generating new social value initiatives and identifying key clients to offer the opportunity to get involved in these initiatives.

- Good team player as you will be required to work with a range of personnel internally and externally.
- Work well under pressure and set timelines in a professional manner.
- Highly organised.
- Highly competent on all Microsoft applications.
- An analytical thinker who can think outside of the box and generate fresh ideas.
Qualifications/Experience
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience in similar role
- Educated to a relevant degree level.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ideally have previous exposure to the Waste Management and Recycling industry
- A holistic view of Sustainability
- Hold a Sustainability Foundation course or be working towards one.
