Top Tips to planning your work Christmas party

With so many people booking events on similar dates, planning a Christmas party can be a very stressful task. Here, we have listed our top tips for planning your own corporate Christmas party and it involves planning very early!

    Start planning early

One of the most important tips is to begin your planning process early. Of course, it may feel too early to get yourself into the festive spirit in the middle of summer but starting early is key to ensure the planning process runs smoothly.

Pick your date and confirm numbers

Pick your date well in advance so that you have enough time to plan the Christmas party and check for availability at different venues. Ideally, you want to pick the last working day of the week and most other companies will be looking at Friday dates in December. You will need to browse around for venues well in advance to avoid disappointment. Once you have chosen a date, send an invite to all employees to confirm the number of people that can attend. This is to ensure you have all the details to begin making enquiries.

    Budget

Whilst easier said than done, make sure to set aside a budget for your Christmas party and work within it. When planning your own venue and entertainment, a top tip would be to create a spreadsheet showing estimated prices of; venue, food and drink, decorations and entertainment. Don’t forget to also leave yourself some money spare for any last minute add ons!

    Food and Drink

Always make sure to take into account any dietary requirements from employees so that you can inform the waiter in advance. You want to make sure that you are catering for everyone and that there are plenty of good options! And don’t forget the alcohol- most venues will have their own Christmas set menus which will include a wine list and other festive drinks. Make sure to check set menus to ensure it is something all employees will enjoy.

    Entertainment

Entertainment is key! Employees will be looking forward to the annual Christmas party so you will want to make sure you choose somewhere with a fun and lively atmosphere. For example, will there be a live band or a saxophone player? Or will you be immersing yourself in a Mediterranean cuisine with live entertainment such as Greek dancing or plate smashing? Entertainment can vary greatly depending on the cuisine which is an important factor to consider when choosing a venue.
