    World Mental Health Day 2022

Just like our physical health, it is extremely important to recognise and look after our mental health. At Cavendish Professionals, we understand the importance of looking after your mental health and we aim to promote this throughout our entire organisation. Understanding the connection between mental and physical health, prioritising both equally will improve overall wellbeing. We encourage everyone to prioritise their health and to seek help or treatment at any stage of their lives.

    Improving your mental health

We are all different and there is no one fix to all our problems, however, there are different techniques that work for different people. Here are some of the basics that you can try:

    • Exercise

Exercise plays a major role in the state of your mental health. Feel-good hormones are released during physical activity, which improves self-esteem and gives you more energy. Doing anything physical, releases cortisol, which helps us manage stress. This can be used to relieve stress, anxiety or intrusive thoughts.

    • Have people around you

A close circle of friends is great for our wellbeing; it can give us a sense of belonging, help to create a support network, and give us people to talk to and have fun with.

    • Take notes

The most important step that you can take to improve your mental health is to recognise what is causing you stress and face it head on. Paying more attention to the present moment and living in it, can improve your mental wellbeing. Understanding your mind and body, and how it works can be extremely valuable.

    • Prioritise fun and relaxation

It might be challenging to let ourselves unwind and enjoy some relaxation when we’re busy or stressed, but it’s crucial for our wellbeing. We should incorporate “down time” rather than view it as a luxury, into our schedules.

This are just a a number of steps that you can take to improve your overall mental wellbeing.

    Supporting your organisation

Within any company it is imperative to encourage your employees to speak up and seek help if they are struggling. At Cavendish Professionals we have taken a number of steps to ensure our internal and external staff are supported in any way. This year we have sponsored two organisations within the construction industry, The lighthouse Charity and Construction Sport. The work these two companies’ do is pivotal within the construction industry, for this reason, they are extremely important to us at Cavendish Professionals. We want to help support those making a difference in the industry we operate.

    Looking for support?

If you are seeking support for your mental health, it is often easier to speak to someone you don’t know, who specialises in this area. Today there are endless websites and organisations available that can provide you with the help and support you may need. Some of these include:

At Cavendish Professionals, we invest in the people who work within our organisation, and we believe it is extremely important to prioritise and talk about our mental health. We encourage everyone to always check in on their loved ones, friends and colleagues to make sure they are doing ok.
