    Our client is a global technology organisation looking for an InstallShield & InstallAnywhere Consultant to provide strategic installer architecture expertise on a part-time remote contract (up to 10 hours per week).

    Skills and Requirements:

    • Strong commercial experience with InstallShield 2023 (R1/R2) and InstallAnywhere
    • Proven expertise designing enterprise installer architecture and packaging strategies
    • Deep understanding of Windows Installer (MSI/MSP) internals and transaction models
    • Experience with installation, upgrade, patching, rollback, and recovery mechanisms
    • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Windows Registry, and Windows Services
    • Hands-on experience developing and troubleshooting custom installer actions using Java, PowerShell, and VBScript
    • Experience integrating installers into CI/CD build and release pipelines
    • Knowledge of build automation tools such as Ant and Gradle
    • Understanding of installer security best practices, including gMSA and installer hardening
    • Proven experience improving scalability, maintainability, and performance of enterprise installer solutions
    • Strong architectural review, technical consulting, and knowledge transfer experience
    • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and advisory skills

    Role and Responsibilities:

    • Review and assess existing InstallShield and InstallAnywhere implementations
    • Provide architectural recommendations for installer design, packaging, deployment, and upgrade strategies
    • Advise engineering teams on scalability, maintainability, performance, and security best practices
    • Recommend improvements for cross-platform installation and software distribution processes
    • Support troubleshooting of complex installer-related technical issues
    • Guide CI/CD integration and automation of installer build and release processes
    • Review Windows service lifecycle management and installer configuration approaches
    • Recommend improvements for Windows Registry management and installer security
    • Deliver documentation, best-practice guidance, and knowledge transfer to internal engineering teams
    • Act as a strategic consultant focused on architecture, recommendations, and long-term installer improvements rather than day-to-day development
