    Our client is an innovative healthcare technology organisation looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to build and enhance a mission-critical Azure-based platform on a remote contract until mid-September.

    Skills and Requirements:

    • 10+ years of commercial backend engineering experience
    • Strong expertise with Node.js and Azure Functions
    • Deep experience with Azure Cosmos DB including partition key design, query optimisation, change feeds, and RU management
    • Strong knowledge of Azure DevOps including CI/CD pipelines and YAML deployments
    • Experience with Azure Key Vault and cloud infrastructure services
    • Hands-on experience with Azure Application Insights and production monitoring
    • Proven experience integrating third-party APIs within enterprise environments
    • Strong understanding of backend architecture, scalability, and performance optimisation
    • Experience troubleshooting complex production issues across application, infrastructure, and data layers
    • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and technical leadership skills
    • Experience with Azure Data Factory, Power BI, or data warehouse integrations (preferred)
    • Knowledge of Azure Front Door, WAF, API Management, or regulated industries such as healthcare (preferred)

    Role and Responsibilities:

    • Own backend architecture and provide technical leadership for new platform features and enhancements
    • Design, develop, and maintain production-grade backend services using Node.js, Azure Functions, and Azure Cosmos DOptimise Cosmos DB performance, partition strategies, query efficiency, and resource utilisation
    • Design and maintain Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines to support automated deployments
    • Lead integrations with third-party pharmacy APIs and external technology platforms
    • Improve platform observability, monitoring, and diagnostics using Azure Application Insights
    • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues across backend services, infrastructure, and databases
    • Identify technical debt and implement scalable, maintainable solutions to improve platform performance
    • Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and external technology partners to deliver high-quality solutions
    • Drive best practices in backend development, cloud architecture, and continuous improvement
