We recently hosted our first AI tech event at Techie Space. A meetup place for the tech community based in Krakow, a bustling city and the centre for cutting edge technological advancements. We brought together developers, tech enthusiasts and industry experts to focus on the transformative force of artificial intelligence (AI).

Beyond the insightful presentations and discussions, the event fostered a sense of community among developers, businesses, and tech enthusiasts. Networking opportunities allowed attendees to connect with like-minded professionals, share ideas, and explore potential collaborations.

The consensus among attendees was clear: AI is not just a futuristic concept but a powerful tool that can be harnessed today to streamline and optimise software development around the world.

AI Toolkit for Developers

The event kicked off with an exploration of the latest advancements in AI tools for developers. This captivating talk was presented by Rafal Dubowski, a seasoned Python Developer and distinguished lecturer specialising in AI and its implications for the Talent Acquisition industry. His presentation served as motivation, equipping developers with the knowledge and tools they need to harness AI’s potential effectively.

Attendees gained invaluable insights into AI applications for custom tools and the critical considerations of security and ethics in AI development. From code suggestion engines, to automated debugging solutions, participants witnessed first hand how AI is revolutionising the way developers approach their work.

AI and Talent Acquisition

As the event progressed and attention shifted to the impact of AI on talent acquisition in the tech industry. Adrian Duffy, Head of Technology Recruitment, discussed the traditional methods of recruiting that are undergoing a shift, thanks to AI-powered tools that can analyse CV’s, predict candidate success, and even conduct initial interviews.

Adrian shared his experiences and opinions on new software’s that use AI algorithms to sift through applicants. Explaining, that the use of AI not only expedites the hiring process but can also help companies make more informed decisions.

Rafal went on to discuss the concerns about bias in algorithms and the need for transparent, accountable practices. Stating, that while AI can augment the recruitment process, human oversight and ethical guidelines are crucial to ensure fair and equitable hiring practices.

The Q&A sessions at the end of each talk provided a platform for conversations about the ethical considerations surrounding AI in hiring.

Our first AI tech event at Techie Space was a resounding success, leaving attendees inspired and equipped with the knowledge to navigate the evolving landscape of AI in the software development industry. Attendees also left with some advice and answers to some career questions they had but did not know.
