    Senior Design Manager

    Our client is a leading new build and refurbishment main contractor who predominantly operate within the commercial, residential, hotel and leisure sectors.

    They now have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Design Manager to join the team on a permanent basis.

    Immediate start – Live projects all across London.

    This client’s head office is based in Central London.

    Some of the key roles and responsibilities include:

    • Single and First Stage Tenders – Set up and oversee design management process on tenders as required with the level of support for each dictated by business needs.
    • Manage Design Managers allocated to work on tenders and oversee their deliverables and workload.
    • Attend Client facing meetings during the tender and post tender period
    • Assist with consultant and subcontractor supply chain lists
    • Second Stage Tender/PCSA – Set up and oversee design management process to contract
    • Oversee all consultant appointments
    • Overseeing design management on a portfolio of projects
    • Ensuring a design management strategy is produced for each project
    • Helping with allocation of design management resource for each project

    Criteria:

    • Construction related qualification
    • Chartered or Associate Member of an appropriate engineering institution (Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Structural Engineers, Royal Institution of British Architects, Architects Registration Board, Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists etc)
    • Preference for experience as in either Architectural, Structural or Project Management background
    • The candidate will typically have undertaken a similar role in a similar sized business for a minimum of five years and be working towards or will have achieved a professional qualification
    • The candidate will have demonstrated a sound approach to managing the design process across a wide spectrum of procurement routes and will be able to evidence having managed a function or project team in this discipline
    • The ability to have multi project experience covering more than one scheme at any one time, covering new build, refurbishment and fit out across recognised sectors
    • Experienced in both single stage and two stage procurement processes including knowledge of all forms of construction contract
    • Able to take lead role as bid manager during pre-construction or construction as business needs dictate
    • A provider of design solutions and should have strong communication and presentation skills
    • Ability to undertake peer reviews on projects
    • The ability to review design documents to identify where gaps are missing, or details are not coordinated
